A physician-owned urgent care clinic in Brownsville.
Open when your doctor isn't. PGS Urgent Care is an after-hours urgent care clinic on the north side of Brownsville — for the sore throat that turned bad after dinner, the ankle that rolled at practice, the fever that started at bedtime.
We open in early 2027. Our planned hours are Monday through Friday, 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
Who owns and supervises this clinic
PGS Urgent Care is owned and supervised by three physicians — Michael J. McKenna, DO, Carlos A. Barba, MD, and William Aaron Tucker, DO. They set the standards of care for the clinic and supervise the providers who work here; they are not the providers who will see you at your visit.
That distinction matters, so we would rather say it plainly than let you find out at the front desk. What physician ownership means for you is that the people responsible for how this clinic practices are practicing physicians in this community, with their own names on it — not an out-of-town company.
- Michael J. McKenna, DO — Owner and Medical Director
- Carlos A. Barba, MD — Owner
- William Aaron Tucker, DO — Owner
Dr. McKenna and Dr. Barba are partners at Premier General Surgeons.
Who will take care of you
PGS Urgent Care is physician-owned and physician-supervised. Care is provided by experienced physician assistants (PAs) under the supervision of the owning physicians.
You will be cared for by an experienced physician assistant. Our supervising physicians are always a phone call away and close by whenever a visit calls for one.
A physician assistant is a licensed clinician who examines patients, orders and interprets tests, makes diagnoses, prescribes medication, and does procedures like stitching a cut. Physician assistants staff urgent care clinics across Texas. If your visit turns out to need more than we can give you here, we will tell you that, and we will help you get to the right place.
